I have a chance to live and work in Satun, Southern Thailand. What is it like living there? Is it anything like Bangkok? Please let me know as much as you can. Costs, transport, people, places, entertainment etc. Thank you in advance. Sutan has about 20, people in a nice, quiet little town. Obviously it's about as far removed from Bangkok as you could be. It is nothing left me Bangkok. Besides that problem it was quite an interesting ,easy going town.
If you do take a job in Thailand do it legally. No working on a tourist visa. You need a work permit and proper visa. If you work illegally you can get in trouble. Below expat forum has info on work permit and other helpful advice if you take the job.
See some of the other sections on working and living in Thailand too. A Google check will give you population and city size. There is no other city like Bangkok! Living in Thailand in a small city should be cheaper than London. The type of apartment you live in depends on you salary.
Food is cheap in Thailand. Once you know how things work transportation shouldn't be a big expense. The advantage of working overseas is meeting and interacting with the local people. Your regular routine may simply be get up, work, return home.
Maybe go out for walks, stop in a restaurant, etc. Normal stuff. But one advantage is that you can probably take long weekends to Bangkok or other nearby more exciting cities. Even visit other countries in your free time for cheap money!. There is the occasional Foreign Office warnings for Southern Thailand that you probably have already read.
